New frames revolution prototypes at Mido

Again this year, Nxt and the IED Research Center are announcing the most recent developments regarding this material at Mido, where new models of the latest generation of Frames Revolution are being introduced to the press, designers and the trade. Entirely made in Nxt, the new prototypes again demonstrate the material's versatility and workability.

HorizonThe two new models for 2006 are specially designed to demonstrate how easily Nxt can be crafted using diverse, innovative technologies: production processes for molding (better characterized as casting), and milling from sheets to obtain innovative designer models that take full advantage of the strength, quality and reliability of Nxt.

Horizon is an ophthalmic eyeglass frame that is designed to take full advantage of the ductility offered by Nxt during manufacture. The temples, which are produced for the first time in die-cast Nxt, are connected to a bridge that is milled from a flat sheet and then heat-shaped to create the nose pad. Thanks to the elasticity of the bridge, the lenses are press-fit into the frame, thus eliminating the need for additional mounting hardware.

NoseNose, a sports sunglass frame entirely built in cast Nxt, is designed to meet the requirements for performance, practicality and lightness that are typical of sports activities. The bridge is fastened to the mask by a special central nose pad (which is also die-cast) made of the Nxt Soft formulation, which allows the lens to be replaced quickly and the assembly to be supplemented with various components.

Intercast holds the exclusive patent rights to the production and sale of Nxt optical polymer in the field of sunglass lenses for fashion and sports eyewear, ski masks, and visors for motorcycle/protective helmets.
