Road open to chemical sector for Certottica
Not only glasses and helmets are to be certified by Certottica: the certification institute at Longarone has recently obtained the approval of the Minister for Manufacturing to certify devices that protect upper limbs from aggressive chemicals.
It is an extension of the authorization to issue certificates and CE declarations of compliance awarded by the Minister for Manufacturing (the decree was published in the Official Gazette June 30 and has been in effect since July 1).
An important recognition for Certottica, which has been authorized since 2003 to issue certificates and CE declarations of compliance for protection devices for ears, eyes, the head, the respiratory tract, the face, feet, legs, hands, arms, protection devices against falls and protective clothing.
To obtain the decree, Certottica set up a special certification committee of which the Minister himself is a member and who considered the institute's presence in certification activities highly desirable.
To carry out chemical tests, Certottica will collaborate with US laboratory ICS, but for the other certification services offered by Certottica, the laboratories at Longarone are already in a position to meet the requests for the certification of personal protection devices such as gloves for protection from mechanical hazards.
Certottica's policy has been to acquire instruments that are as flexible as possible and will allow various types devices to be evaluated.
The laboratory can also provide a service for evaluating the conpliance of sports gloves; a service that is part of the new DolomitiCert center for the certification of mountain-sports equipment.
