Rudy Project at Tour de France 2006
Triumph also at the Grande Boucle for Rudy Project eyewear. In addition to being the official glasses for 2006, they also stood out on the faces of the stars of the Tour.
Always front-line committed to sponsoring over 10,000 athletes of all nationalities and in a wide variety of disciplines at all competition levels, Rudy Project also supported numerous groups of cyclists in the Tour de France.
At the 93rd Grande Boucle, Rudy Project accompanied 26 cyclists, including famous sprinters like Bennati, Eisel, Zabel and three times world champ Oscar Freire (Rabobank), who sprinted ahead of his rivals at the 5th stage of the 225 km between Beauvais and Caen, and the 9th stage of the 169.5 km between Bordeaux and Dax.
Great results were also assured by Russia's Menchov (Rabobank) who won the 11th stage, arriving first across the finishing line at Val d'Aran, and ace Mickael Rasmussen (Rabobank) who came in first on the 16th stage of the Tour de France and was the star of a 176 km pursuit.
Winner of the Tour of Italy in 2004, Damiano Cunego, the 24-year-old from Verona (Lampre Fondital) was taking part in this Tour for the first time and won the white jersey for best newcomer. Cunego has been collaborating for some time with Rudy Project on the development of new products designed ad hoc for cycling.
Denmark's Mickael Rasmussen (Rabobank) also confirmed his verve on the hills and for the second year running won the polka dot jersey for best climber.
All these great champions were able to count on Rudy Project's technical sunglasses with their ergonomic and wraparound design, excellent companions for top-level competitions. For some, like Bennati and Ballan, the glasses had corrective lenses.
But everyone was guaranteed ultra-light materials, ImpactX photochromic and polarizing lenses in NXT, ideal for the optimum management of light in any weather conditions. Rudy Project helmets also make their mark: super-light and streamlined, they were designed in collaboration with the best teams in the world to guarantee maximum safety and total comfort.
The Tour de France also provided the occasion for presenting the world preview of the new Syluro model by Rudy Project. Perfect for extreme sports, it will be on the market from end 2006.
