Safilo: first Marc by Marc Jacobs eyewear collection

The Safilo Group, world leader in top-of-the range and luxury eyewear, has presented the prestigious line of Marc by Marc Jacobs eyewear to the market for the first time.

The new collection, which comes little more than a year after the launch of the Marc Jacobs collection, further strengthens Safilo's leadership and consolidates the company's relationship with the LVMH Group.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs collection comprises a complete line of sunglasses in acetate and metal and it is aimed at young people seeking the latest fashion trends.

The models have vintage elements reinterpreted in a modern and sophisticated key with the exclusive design details that are typical of the American stylist, such as the 'jumbled logo' which characterizes the Marc by Marc Jacobs accessories.

The fame of Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs labels in the United States and their ever-increasing popularity will contribute to the success of this new collection. Already during the first year, it is forecast to represent 10% of Safilo's billings from collections in the important US department store channel.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs collection, which will be distributed starting October 2006 in the United States and then in the rest of the world within one year, will be joined later by a line of vision eyewear.
