Success of Carl Zeiss products at Mido 2006

The presence of Carl Zeiss at Mido 2006 confirmed the success achieved by the products showing the prominent German label, whether they are ophthalmic lenses, contact lenses or optic-optometry instruments.

At Mido, the Carl Zeiss Ophthalmic Division officially presented to the Italian market its Gradal Individual FrameFit (the new 'customized' progressive lens), the extended range of Zeiss lenses with Transitions V technology, the liquid for soft contact lens maintenance, Save Soft Unica, and the soft contact lenses, Contact Day 30 Spheric, in individual packs.

Zeiss also focused significantly on RV Terminal, the instrument that allows an immediate perfect centering (with tenth of a millimeter precision). The success of sales demonstrates that the optician-optometrist recognizes its usefulness both as a technical instrument and as a marketing support. With the introduction of the innovative progressive lenses Gradal Individual FrameFit, the RV Terminal has evolved further. The optician-optometrist can now make direct measurements of the optimum length of the progression area (FrameFit value) and so meet all the adaptation requirements of individual wearers.

Another innovation is the possibility of calculating the meniscus angle: RV Terminal can in fact precisely calculate the degree of frame 'curve'. With sports glasses and high-fashion frames, especially, this value is generally 10 or more. For the optimization of lens design, which is required to give the end user maximum vision comfort, the meniscus angle must be taken into consideration.

As to Zeiss lenses with Transitions V technology, in addition to the previous range of Clarlet 1.6/1.67 Transitions progressive lenses, Carl Zeiss now offers the following photochromic lenses with a refraction index of 1.5 and the innovative Transitions V technology:
- Clarlet 1.5 Gradal Top E Transitions was already available with the Next Generation technology. The product has now been updated with the new Transitions V technology;
- Clarlet 1.5 Gradal Brevis Transitions is a new product. This progressive lens can be adapted to narrow frames with the advantage of a photochromic lens combined with a refraction index of 1.5;
- Clarlet 1.5 Duopal C 28 Transitions, the bifocal was already available with the Next Generation technology and has been updated with the new Transitions V technology;
- Clarlet 1.5 Transitions is the product addressed to younger customers who can benefit from the performance of the most innovative photochromic technology.
