Titan Minimal Art Space Edition launch at Mido

Weighing only 1.8 grams, for more than six years, the Titan Minimal Art from the Austrian eyewear manufacturer Silhouette has been flying into space with Nasa astronauts and accompanied them in their daily tasks in zero gravity. After 18 missions on board a space shuttle, Silhouette launches at Mido a special edition under the name of 'Silhouette Titan Minimal Art Space Edition'. The Space Edition by Silhouette includes 8 designs in 8 different colours each.

This Special Edition comes in eight colours, eight new lens shapes, fashionable design elements as well as a new structured print on the minimalist temples which are made from Hyper Flex titanium. The temples of the four special edition models have a multi-coloured structural print. The end caps of the temples are sputtered with metallic shades of chrome, titanium and gold.

The Space Edition features subdued classic colours such as silver, black, brown and ruthenium as well as fashionable tones such as gold, violet, dark red and dark green. The silver, gold, violet and black models are hand-printed with a fine pattern. The shapes of the lenses range from oval and almond-shaped to rectangular. Some come with rounded corners.

The glasses also feature the new, patented EmPad system, where the bridge is embedded in the nose pads. This intelligent solution makes the bridge slimmer, it can be cleaned more easily and the nose pads nonetheless remain fully moveable and therefore automatically adjust to the shape of the nose.

For several years, the Titan Minimal Art have been the standard glasses for astronauts. 70% of spacemen wear corrective eyewear day-to-day, and in space, 90% do. Around 30% of astronauts choose the lightest glasses of the universe, the Titan Minimal Art.

For the critical Nasa experts, it was not just the small weight that was a crucial determining factor, but also such innovative technologies as the screwless and hingeless design, the Twin Lock fastening system, the high degree of elasticity and toughness of the special Silhouette material Hyper Flex titanium and, of course, the perfect fit - even under extreme conditions such as under helmets.
