Cecop Meeting in Chianti
The green Tuscany of gently rolling hills and hearty cuisine rich in history and culture hosted the Italian Cecop members at the annual meeting held June 2-3 at the 'Piccolo Castello' in the walled hill town of Monteriggioni (Siena). A 4-star jewel of a hotel in pure Siena 19th Century Neoclassic style set in a two hectare Italian garden.
During the meeting, Carmelo Guglielmo, Country Manager for Italy analysed the factors behind the success of the purchasing group that has registered over 300 members in just 3 years, emphasising the key role played by the independent optician in both the market and Cecop. Opticians possess detailed knowledge of both the consumers and the market, and are provided with the tools to be competitive in their daily operations by the group.
Opticians from all over Italy were given the chance to discuss with preferential suppliers at their display areas with assistance from the commercial operatives present, after which the participants adjourned to an exquisite dinner served in the Castle's famous restaurant.
If Saturday offered a blend of business and pleasure, Sunday was dedicated entirely to relaxation and amusement.
The Chianti hills and wines provided the setting for the 'Tour in discovery of local flavours' as the participants were given free access to the historical Castello d'Albola cellars, where they were 'initiated' into the secrets of Classic Chianti wine production.
