CooperVision presents Biofinity™ with Aquaform™
Unlike the other producers of silicone hydrogel who have tried to increase the hydrophobic properties typical of silicone by adding moistening agents and treating the suface of the lenses, CooperVision's Biofinity contact lenses with Aquaform exceeds this limit thanks to the design of the material used to make the lens. An incredible combination of high oxygen transmission, low modulus and improved wettability means that Biofinity with Aquaform offers superior comfort because of the superior technology of the material.
John Rogers, European Clinical Affairs Manager of CooperVision explained: 'Aquaform is a naturally wettable silicone hydrogel material that does not require any surface treatment or moistening agents. Thanks to its ability to bond oxygen with water molecules, it creates a naturally hydrophilic contact lens that retains water, minimizes dryness and the formation of deposits, and is extrarodinarily comfortable at the end of the day. Greater oxygen transmissibility and material with a lower silicone component, creates a contact lens with a lower modulus and one that is softer and more flexible than the silicone hydrogel lens with a treated surface.
The results speak for themselves: a recent in-market study showed that 69% of the intereviewees decided to change to Biofinity at the end of the study.
Because materials and geometries are continually developing, Biofinity with Aquaform is the latest frontier in material technology that offers new levels of comfort and wettability.
