PureVision® Nuove e Perfezionate for Bausch & Lomb
History has repeated itself for over 150 years: in Bausch & Lomb's research Centre and plants technological evolution continues. The Company from Rochester, in the state of New York, has announced the launch of PureVision® Nuove e Perfezionate contact lenses, which will gradually be introduced onto the market from 7 May 2007.
The new lenses follow the success of the previous PureVision® lenses in hydrogel silicone whose launch, in 1999, revolutionized the market of contact lenses.
Bausch & Lomb's researchers and technicians have set themselves the new challenge of improving a contact lens whose materials and technology were already a generation ahead.
PureVision® spherical lenses offer outstanding visual performance thanks to their technology, which reduces spherical aberration. Patients who change from their usual contact lenses to PureVision® Nuove e Perfezionate lenses will be able to have clear, sharp vision at any distance, also in conditions of low light. PureVision® Nuove e Perfezionate lenses have a smoother, re-designed front surface to offer a high level of comfort, a great difference that even the most 'sensitive' patients can really feel. And the lower module guarantees greater lens flexibility while maintaining the same level of oxygen transmissibility.
Besides quality vision, the most significant benefit is 'comfort', an aspect, which is understandably becoming increasingly popular and valued by contact lens wearers. The new, smoother surface of PureVision® Nuove e Perfezionate lenses has considerably increased the level of comfort, especially when it comes to assessing the 'end-of-the-day comfort', a parameter, which considerably influences patients' choice of lenses. Great improvements have also been found in the initial phase and 4 hours after applying the lenses (1). It is not simply a coincidence that of the patients who preferred PureVision® Nuove e Perfezionate to the previous model (64%), at least 79% made their choice based, above all, on improved comfort.
PureVision® Nuove e Perfezionate lenses offer a 28% reduction in the module without influencing the Dk/t value. It is known that a significantly lower module makes the lens softer and more flexible. At the same time, the oxygen transmission level remains unchanged, which is essential for the health of our eyes.
Kristina Colombo from Bausch & Lomb comments: 'PureVision® Nuove e Perfezionate lenses continue the success of the original PureVision® lenses. Spherical lenses continue to offer patients the outstanding quality vision that they expect from the whole range of PureVision® lenses, with greater improved comfort that adds to all of the other benefits offered by these lenses.'
