Sipao: conclusion of Mido 2007

Positive comments have been expressed by the businesses of the Eyewear District and the companies associated with Assindustria Belluno/Sipao (Pool of Eyewear Manufacturers) on Mido 2007, on the last day of the most important eyewear fair in the world.

Good contacts were made by Belluno's eyewear manufacturers - despite the persistence of such a strong dollar that in part penalized the businesses working with those areas - a large turnout by the public and the firm belief that appearing as a District was a decisive choice welcomed by the group's protagonists, the SMEs, by the specialized press and by those working in the sector. Moreover, the innovative products of those businesses, which succeeded in producing special, new, attractive eyewear, proved to be such winners that they were able to cut out an important niche, meeting with the approval of the public that attended.

'This year the great novelty was the coalition in a joint area, which was characterized by the carpet and banners with our logo' - comments Renato Sopracolle the Representative of the Eyewear District - 'we promoted Made in Italy products and the production of individual businesses together, despite each one maintaining its own particular characteristics. We presented ourselves with an area of about 2,000 square meters for frames, and an area of about 700 square meters for machinery: in both cases, the businesses that attended were able to characterize their stand with their own image, while the joint areas kept the mark of the Eyewear District. A gamble, which proved to be a winner judging by how things went at the fair on those four days, and which we shall certainly repeat next year' - concludes Sopracolle.

The Initiative by the Eyewear District and Assindustria Belluno/Sipao was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Region of Veneto. Furthermore, there has been great interest in the 'International Snow Games for Opticians' project that is also supported by the Region of Veneto, which was presented last Saturday, at the Fair in Milan and already has several participants, including opticians and journalists, who are interested in spending a week in the mountains from 2 to 9 February 2008, in the Dolomites of Cadore and Cortina with the District's eyewear manufacturers.
