The new Mido makes history, see you in 2008

The 37th Mido that will soon close has scored tremendous success in many ways. Not just because of the figures - which are already record-breaking - in terms of the net exhibition area (+15.2%) and the rising number of exhibitors (+8%, for a total of approx. 1,300), but also with respect to the preliminary attendance figures, which look set to show an increase of more than 8%.

All this goes to show that Mido has delivered on its promise. Thanks to the organizers who firmly supported the opportunity and need for Mido to have a more appropriate venue for its international reach and that would be better placed to meet the needs of companies, but most importantly, of the industry. This industry, which is brisk and healthy and is finally showing some signs of a significant recovery after some difficult and troubled times, reacted enthusiastically to the transfer to the new complex in Rho-Pero. This futuristic and functional exhibition complex spurred exhibitors to revamp their fittings, communication and sales, as well as their samples. The new collections seemed to be particularly creative and focused on anticipating consumer needs, by striking the ideal balance between the leading-edge and creative features of the complex designed by architect Fuksas with those of eyewear designers.

An exhibition at the center of sweeping changes, a major turning point, that will also be remembered for its ability to enthrall exhibitors and visitors at the inaugural evening. This entertaining and attention-grabbing event took us on a journey through the past 40 years in the history of eyewear somewhere between fashion, mores and society, with styles that, decade after decade, left an indelible mark on each period.

The same mark that has been left by Mido President Cirillo Marcolin, who hosted the past 8 exhibitions, and who will be leaving us. The dowry that his successor, the new president, will receive is a reinvigorated exhibition that is uniquely positioned to tackle and win the challenges of the future. See you at the 38th Mido, from 9 to 12 May 2008, back again at Rho-Pero.
