Footwear: spring/summer 2010 fashion trends
There are four trends in women’s footwear for spring/summer 2010. Everywhere, there is strong attention to all things natural, from the choice of colors to decorations, shapes and materials. But certainly not excluded are the technical treatments that cohabit with natural elements, often in the same shoe: so you’ll find matte competing with glossy, neutral tints and flashes of fluo. Without prejudice heels range from high to low, from totally flat in white and black to platform sandals in bright colors. Nowadays, no woman wants to give up on comfort, but no woman likes to feel short! The new feminine power is condensed in height.
URBAN MARINE CHIC
A sophisticated navy-inspired style to be worn in the city. Leggy sandals and generous platforms. Open moccasins with shaped soles. There are decorations, but without exaggerating. Touches of slightly oxidized gold and neutral colors prevail and are the basis of this group: white, hemp, sand, almond. But there is plenty of blue, red linen and a few touches of naval brass.
VERTICAL GARDEN
Workwear, gardening and bio are the trendy inspirations. Work and military uniforms come together with nonchalant flirtatiousness. The footwear looks comfortable. But high and low heels cohabit, flats and high platform sandals. Stitching is evident and frequently masculine: camouflage prints, but the new camouflage is floral and the colors come from the vegetable garden: tomato, raspberry, grape, basil and black radish.
ROMANTIC TECHNO
They style is romantic but the romanticism of facebook.
Prints and babyish flowers seem to come straight from the computer. Lace is accompanied by laser-created technical nets or geometrical perforations. In this group pumps with 3 and 5 cm heels tied low down with geometrical backgrounds; high-necked sandals open at the heel and generous platforms. Cut-flower colors of rose, carnation, buds and mimosa.
SOUTH AMERICA & FLUO FEELINGS
Neo-exotic and ecotourism. It’s the South America of Ecuador and Argentina. Decorations are natural and often excessive: raised cork, sandstone and minerals cohabit with semi-precious stones, shells, amulets, pearls. Heels and calves are a Texan’s paradise for daytime with elegant sandals for the evening. The colors are strong: midnight blue, indigo, red earth, cacao and coffee. Fluo effects have a place of their own in moccasins and flats. On bases of madras or denim blue fabric.
