Intercast consolidates international position
Thanks to the Intercast Group’s NXT® technological platform, it has been able to completely satisfy the optics sector by providing the best lens sun filter technology now available on the market and, at the same time, a material of excellent quality for the production of frames.
Lightness, strength, optical quality and vision wellbeing: these are the excellent characteristics of NXT® lenses that make no compromises when it comes to comfort and protection.
Based on this superior quality, in 2007 the Research and Development unit created an ophthalmic version of the NXT® Rx Sun lenses for people who need corrective sunglasses. NXT® Rx Suns are the perfect choice for all correction and configuration requirements because of their optimal blend of material technology with maximum engineering applied to the formulation of colors for ophthalmology.
Constant research subsequently led to the development of two new products which expanded the range of NXT® Rx Sun lenses: NXT® SFSV Polar and NXT® SFSV Polar Varia, semi-finished monofocals available in polarizing and photochromic polarizing versions. A total market innovation, the new polarizing lenses are the outcome of a combination of Intercast Europe’s exclusive Light Management Technology and the characteristics of Trivex®, a material by PPG Industries.
Because of the excellence and versatility of the NXT® platform, the Parma-based company has been able to enter into a partnership with major producers of such sunglasses brands as Beretta, Serengeti and ZeroRh+.
Beretta, the historical arms manufacturer and synonym for uniqueness throughout the world, chose the Intercast Group to produce target-shooting glasses for its team. Beretta’s target-shooting glasses are fitted with the special NXT® - HCNB High Contrast Narrow Band photochromic lenses, which were designed to give excellent definition, very high contrast perception and prevent eye strain. These innovative lenses guarantee the best performance and explore new horizons in sharpness achieved by polymerization, a long processing procedure, which emphasizes optical homogeneity.
With Serengeti Eyewear Intercast Europe has signed an exclusive partnership for the production of a new polarized photochromic lens. The polarizing filter in Serengeti® Polar PhD™ lenses is made directly on the inner surface of the lens thanks to Intercast’s Advanced Polarized Surface Technology™, thereby eliminating the disadvantages of conventional polarized lenses where the polarized filter is inserted between two layers.
The photochromic technology integrated in Serengeti® Polar PhD™ lenses means that they lighten and darken as soon as light intensity changes. Because the photochromic properties are not applied as a coating but integrated in the lens they guarantee maximum photochromic performance for the entire life of the lens.
The NXT® technological platform has proved to be extremely functional also for making frames because the material is totally shatterproof, has an excellent memory and resistance to chemicals. NXT® is a first-rate solution as it does not release chemicals that are harmful to the skin, it does not interact with UV rays, perspiration or cosmetics so it will not alter, deteriorate or age. Not least important are the characteristics of transparency and luminosity of NXT® frames, which do not hide the eyes or facial features but, on the contrary, enhance them. This is why De Rigo has chosen the NXT® technological platform for the new Police Eyewear collection presented to the market at Mido 2009: three new models in 5 different colors with the front piece in NXT® and very light temples in a variety of metal combos.
