Rudy Project at Audi MedCup
With the start of the 2009 yachting season Rudy Project boards the Italian TP52 yacht Audi Q8 taking part in the world’s most difficult and technical regatta circuit, the Audi MedCup.
The Audi regatta machine has been turned into a laboratory for the technological development of materials and the meeting between the experience and design philosophy of Rudy Project and the Audi powered by Q8 Sailing Team has led to a unique product like the Zyon Sailing limited edition eyewear for Audi Q8.
Rudy Project’s Zyon Sailing eyewear is specifically designed for sailing in regattas or just for fun: ImpactX photochromic and polarized lenses guaranteed indestructible for life, an ultra-light frame in Grilamid, 360-degree adjustable end pieces and an Ergo 3 Max ergonomic nosepiece for maximum comfort. Zyon Sailing is made with stainless steel components to prevent salt-water corrosion and it has an adjustable, unsinkable strap, which means it will stay put even during the most extreme action and if it happens to fall into the water, it will float.
With its practical and patented easy-in easy-out system, Zyon Sailing can be fitted with an optical clip-on that goes behind sun lenses for anyone who needs graduated lenses. Zyon Sailing limited edition for Audi Q8 comes in the same silver gray color as the hull of the Audi Q8 and has the team logo on the stem.
For Rudy Project marketing manager Simone Barbazza “The collaboration with the Audi powered by Q8 Sailing Team is a new step ahead for Rudy Project in the heart of top-level sport at the side of the best protagonists. For us, yachting is one of the disciplines that is technologically the most difficult to translate in our products because of the many variables in terms of the requests and specific needs of yachters; that’s why being able to develop and produce a product like Zyon Sailing has been an exciting challenge that has not ended, but will continue with new research and experiments with Riccardo Simoneschi’s crew.”
“We are proud that Rudy Project chose us as its test team and we are also proud to have a new Italian partner at our side and onboard Audi Q8” – stated Audi Q8 team leader Riccardo Simoneschi - “We are giving Rudy Project’s engineers a series of indications for developing their technology and it is a real pleasure to have this firsthand experience of the professionalism, punctuality and in-depth study which lies behind an all-Italian technology that makes Rudy Project an absolute benchmark in our sport and an essential element that our crew could not do without”.
