Safilo at “l’arte del saper fare bene italiano” exhibition
Safilo is one of the protagonists in “L’arte del sapere fare bene italiano” (the Italian art of the well-made) inaugurated Monday, July 6, 2009, and open until August 6, 2009, at the Financial Police College in Coppito (L’Aquila).
Organized as part of the 2009 G8 Summit, the exhibition presents Italian excellence in various design fields and represents a short, but comprehensive, look at significant examples of the creativity, genius and inventiveness that has always characterized Italy.
Safilo has contributed to the exhibition with some antique spectacles from the Guglielmo Tabacchi Gallery, the largest and most complete private collection of articles linked to the world of eyeglasses and eyesight, and a selection of contemporary eyewear, the most representative models from the Safilo collections of the past 5 years. The historical items include 16th-century bow spectacles, lorgnettes with tortoiseshell handles and spectacles with side lenses of the 19th-century and Fifties models with floral appliqués.
Standing out among the current models are the most successful sunglasses and vision glasses by the Safilo, Carrera, Oxydo and Bluebay house brands and by prestigious brands under license such as Gucci, Valentino, Max Mara, Max&Co., Diesel and 55DSL.
The “L’arte del sapere fare bene italiano” exhibition is in two sections: the national section displays numerous objects that have left their mark on the history of Italian costume and culture, not only in the eyewear field but also in craftsmanship, design, music and fashion. In the section dedicated to Abruzzo the stars are the products manufactured in the region.
