Start of collaboration between Spy Optic and Italia Independent
At Pitti Uomo, Italia Independent, the totally Italian design and project brand conceived and set up by Lapo Elkann, presented a new collaboration with Spy Optic, California’s famous active sports brand that is very attentive to the design and quality of its goggles, which have always been produced in the eyewear district in Varese, Italy.
For Italia Independent it is a first: the brand enters the world of snow and snowboards with goggles that combine innovative materials, style and performance. Soldier, the top model in the Spy Optic range, is reinterpreted by I-I with innovative treatments that make it the only one of its kind.
The reinterpretation includes three different models.
The first is unisex and comes in four versions. It features an opaque front piece and flocked claws in different colors to give the goggle strong materiality; the second model is more feminine and has colored corners; the third is the most exclusive and elaborate of this collaboration and features original laser flocking, an electrostatic process that gives an elegant “velvet effect” by orienting and projecting artificial or natural fibers onto a surface to give a pinstriped look. Because they are so elegant and sinuous, snowboard goggles can be worn with an I-I tuxedo or evening dress.
But don’t be deceived by their elegant look. The goggles are ready for the most extreme situations thanks to the double spherical lens with Gemini® technology (the two lenses are sealed and depressurized to prevent both distortion caused by altitude and annoying fogging) and the Scoop Venting System® .
The three models were presented during Pitti Uomo in the innovative camouflage-painted I-I motorhome on Piazzale della Ghiaia and will be distributed to the best opticians’ and fashion stores starting end October.
