John Galliano: a collection between luxury and mystery

John Galliano: a collection between luxury and mystery

“Sunglasses are the supreme accessory and alibi. A status symbol that exudes luxury and mystery. They protect the eyes and create an image of style, whenever and wherever. I wanted to create a pure Galliano style blending functionality and high fashion through faces and frames that change themselves in order to make the best collection of sunglasses. Show yourself by day and night, in all seasons and wherever you are, provided you are wearing Galliano.”

Spring 2010 marks the launch of the eagerly-awaited Made in Italy eyewear collection created by Marcolin exclusively for John Galliano.

The collection captures the stylist’s romantic and innovative spirit with a style that is a blend of the many and unmistakable faces of Galliano’s imagination. Eighteen new models ranging from proposals for leisure to shapes inspired by flamenco dancers, from everyday to extraordinary. There is a style for every season that always exudes the innovative and eccentric Galliano spirit.

Imagine seeing a pink-tinted Galliano world through two exotically elegant eyewear models, the icons of the collection: the heroine “Les Biches” or the hero “Beau Regard”.

‘Les Biches’ made its debut on the Galliano Spring/Summer 2010 runway. In this model, the stylist goes back to his roots, his Spanish and flamenco origins. Enchanted by doe-eyed girls and inspired by the French phrase ‘oeil de biche’, the exclusive ‘Les Biches’ are mysterious, sensual, generous and wraparound sunglasses inspired by peinetas, the perforated combs that the proud flamenco dancers wear in their hair. Dark lenses harmonize with smoke gray or soft pink temples to create the effect of shyly blushing cheeks. Les Biches tell a story of seduction, mystery and femininity in nuances sealed with the JG logo on the end of the temple.
