Ray-ban Rare Prints: an edition created by designer Matt W. Moore

On the wave of the brilliant launch of its Rare Prints collection, the legendary Ray-Ban label is pleased to announce that artist and designer Matt W. Moore, whose abstract graphics are inspired by graffiti art, has created an exclusive print that will be available in Italy only at Salmoiraghi stores starting spring/summer. For the advertising campaign to launch the “Rare Prints” line, Ray-Ban collaborated with numerous illustrators, artists and designers to create an extraordinary silk-screen poster inspired by one of the patterns of the limited edition “Rare Prints” eyewear collection, which includes a map of the New York City subway and floral patterns in bright colors. All the posters are numbered.

Matt W. Moore was chosen because of his exclusive style of illustration, “Vectorfunk”, and his ability to create an original work of art that eloquently represents and epitomizes the Ray-Ban label. “It is an exciting collaboration that not only allows us to distribute the prints exclusively to Salmoiraghi stores throughout Italy, but also to meet our customers’ need to acquire a masterpiece that has a unique style and is also elegant and entertaining,” said Fabio d’Angelantonio, Executive Vice President of the Luxottica Group’s Luxury and Sun Retail sector.

At the end of a lengthy experimentation stage, the choice of the personalized style of “Vectorfunk” was unanimously approved. Matt W. Moore experimented with digital illustrations inspired by abstract geometry, strong color combinations, dynamic compositions, depths and contrasts. Moore also works in a wide range of design and art contexts: paintings on fabric, textile and apparel design, and brand identity. “Collaborating with Ray-Ban was total fun,” Matt W. Moore commented, “and seeing the finished product on the shelves of exclusive retailers means my work will reach the masses.”

Ray-Ban Rare Prints Wayfarer created by Matt W. Moore will be available in three colors: black outside with the exclusive “Vectorfunk” print on the inside, pink outside with the exclusive “Vectorfunk” print on the inside and the exclusive “Vectorfunk” print on the outside with black on the inside. Matt W. Moore is the founder of MWM Graphics, a graphic design and illustration studio based in Portland, Maine. Matt W. Moore works in a variety of disciplines, from the digital graphics of his unmistakable “Vectorfunk” style, to freeform watercolors, aerosol art and murals. MWM exhibits its works of art in galleries throughout the world and boasts prestigious collaborations with clients in all sectors.
