Certottica: a meeting open to the entire eyewear industry
Taking place today at the Centro Conferenze alla Stanga in Padua Chamber of Commerce, the Conference titled “Tutela della vista in ambito sanitario e normativo” (the health and regulatory aspects of protecting sight) was organized by Certottica with the support of Commissione Difesa Vista (Commission for the protection of sight) and in collaboration with Anfao-Mido and Federottica.
The thoughts that prompted this meeting revolve around the eye as a sensory organ and the importance of vision wellbeing.
The work was opened this morning by Vittorio Tabacchi, Knight of Labor, President of Anfao-Mido, Eurom I and CDV, Luigino Boito, Director General of Certottica, and Carlo Cavalli, President of Assopto Padova, who gave all the participants a warm welcome.
“The intention of this event is to spread the culture of safety, but it is also an opportunity to discuss and investigate current topics ranging from prevention to regular eye exams, to changes in regulations for protecting the end consumer”, Luigino Boito explained.
The five talks of the morning were moderated by Il Gazzettino journalist Lauredana Marsiglia.
The first, “sight and driving”, a subject that has become a regular on agendas, was discussed by the Hon. Elisabetta Gardini of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety at the European Parliament, Renato Pocaterra, at the Bicocca University of Milan, and Silvio Maffioletti, Professor in Optics and Optometry at the University of Padua.
They were followed by Prof. Demetrio Spinelli, president of Vision+ Onlus and Società Italiana di Oftalmologia Legale, who went into details about ”the importance of eye exams and prevention at preschool age”.
Prof. Francesco Loperfido, the head of the General Ophthalmology Unit at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, spoke at length about “sunglasses in everyday life”. Giovanni Rossoni from the headquarters for International Commercial Policy at the Ministry of Economic Development, discussed “protecting the market in accordance with national and international regulations”, while illustrating the standards that govern the market and the sale of eyeglasses, and explaining how they contribute to guarantee the free circulation of goods in the market, which increases competitiveness among companies in the European Union and also protects and guarantees the health and safety of consumers and the environment.
The morning was brought to a close by Dominga Ortolan, tutor of Optometry 2 and Advanced Optometry at the University of Padua, who discussed “sensitivity to contrast while driving”.
