Italia Independent “prays for Japan”

Before the recent dramatic events in Japan, Lapo Elkann and his team were in the Land of the Rising Sun last January to shoot a video and travelogue to promote Italia Independent new apparel and accessories line.

They decided to depict a less well-known Japan made of new creative generations and, from city to city, they were portrayed in pictures taken with Hipstamatic, the famous iPhone application.

The project was shelved after the earthquake and tsunami, but recently Lapo decided to make a pair of sunglasses whose revenues will go to Doctors Without Borders working in the country. The model is 000b, an Italia Independent classic reinterpreted in the colors of the Japanese flag.

The ideogram “I-I Pray for Japan” appears on the eyewear temples.
