Veneto Region approves Certottica
The Veneto Region and other partner regions of the Steering Committee for the territorial cooperation program, Interreg IV Italy-Austria 2007-2013, have approved the list of projects that includes Certottica’s ‘Development of non-iridescent decorative coatings’. The project is part of a long-term route leaded by the application of vacuum technologies for surface decoration treatments which are strategic for manufacturing companies. As Certottica is not a manufacturer, it can take a much wider approach and has created skills and hardware that are not common. The project is a strong output for companies that can access the results.
The Steering Committee, a technical body composed of six partner regions in the Italy–Austria cross-border cooperation program, met June 7 and 8 and approved the list of projects included in the fourth public notice which closed March 10, 2011.
In the area of research and innovation, Certottica, the Italian Institute for the Certification of Optical Products, and Dolomiticert of Longarone, head two research projects: one for the technological development of non-iridescent decorative coatings and the other for the research and prototyping of a new helmet and new goggles as innovative personal protection devices that will increase safety when practicing sports, especially in mountain areas.
“At this sitting”, Councilor Ciambetti underscored, “the penultimate before the completion of the 2007-2013 program, the projects selected are valuable. However, the exclusion rate is very high compared to the number of projects approved as fourteen proposals were presented with partners in the Veneto Region. It is my hope” the Councilor said when commenting on the overall results to date “that the Veneto Region will be able to improve its performance at the next and last public notice in the fall for the presentation of projects in collaboration with neighboring mountain regions and with Austria.
