Vision by Design at Orlando
Vision by Design 2011: speakers from all five continents contributed to the work at the Orthokeratology Academy of America conference held in Orlando, Florida, April 27 through May 1.
The first day was devoted to the basis of orthokeratology techniques during a “recruit training camp”. On the following three days, the analysis of the basic techniques for correcting myopia rapidly developed into an in-depth exploration of orthokeratology applications in astigmatism, hyperopia, presbyopia and for controlling myopic progression.
Speakers from Italy included Antonio Calossi, who analyzed high-order aberrations induced by orthokeratology and the possibility of treating presbyopia with multifocal modeling.
The conference also provided the occasion for developing a project that would unite the appliers of orthokeratology contact lenses in a single, international association. The promoters of this initiative were primarily Marino Formenti, coordinator of the European group, and Cary Herzberg, president of the American Academy.
