Last stages of “Desire: how to create successful eyewear”
The SMEs actively involved in an experimental route for creating and developing products with innovative designs Desire began in July 2010 and involved Certottica – with partners Agemont, Friuli Venezia Giulia and the University of Klagenfurt, Carinthia – in conveying the culture, knowledge, techniques and methods of industrial design to SMEs in border areas. Specifically: the companies in the eyewear sector are actively involved in an experimental route for creating and developing products with innovative designs that are also eco-sustainable. The multiple aspects of industrial design are an increasingly determining competitive factor for companies that must enter the global market with successful products. At this stage, Certottica is preparing an online databank of materials and innovative coatings for the project's three targeted sectors: cutlery, eyewear and wood. It is an effective tool that companies will find easy to use and which focuses on new materials and applications. The actions carried out to date have produced "tangible" results: about ten sketches for eyewear and products in the eyewear sector together with a review of colors and trends. The next step will be to prepare the final evaluation of the sketches with regard to technical and ergonomic feasibility and such aspects as choice of materials and possible treatments. This prolific route is scheduled to end in August this year, when we will be able to see and touch the prototypes created by the participants.
