Specialty Health Organizations Unite as Health Care System Changes

NEW ORLEANS—Specialty health organizations, including vision care, hearing and others, are working toward forming a united front as major changes in health care reform come into focus.   Policy experts, knowledgeable managed care executives, and other influencers, including a U.S. Senator, met during the first joint Specialty Health Summit sponsored by the National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP) and The National Association of Specialty Health Organizations (NASHO), since the two organizations merged one year ago. The meeting was held here, at the historic Roosevelt New Orleans: A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, April 30 to May 2.   Combining presentations regarding health care reform in general and sessions related to specialty health care and vision care insurance plans specifically, the three-day event hosted approximately 150 attendees, the largest number ever registered by either organization's previous events. Sponsors included Carl Zeiss Vision, Acuvue, VSP Global, Essilor, Block Vision, Davis Vision, PFO Global and Advantica.   Read the article on Vmail
