Vision Council Survey Finds Challenges Selling Second Pairs Stymie Growth of Polarized Lens Category
ALEXANDRIA, Va.—A newly released survey from the Vision Council found that polarized lens sales are rising, but more rapid growth is being stymied by the reluctance of eyecare professionals (ECPs) to recommend that their patients purchase a second pair of glasses because they fear patients may be unwilling to do so due to the extra cost. Polarized lenses represented an estimated 7.2 percent of all Rx lenses shipped at the wholesale level in the U.S. in 2011, up from about 5.5 percent in 2008, according to the Vision Council's Rx Polarized Lens White Paper Report.
