Pierre Bessez to the Head of Marchon Canada
Marchon has chosen Pierre Bessez to direct its Canadian office and expand its markets The decision was based on Marchon's rich history with Bessez, who, until recently, held the post of Vice-President of International Brands. Pierre Bessez has roughly thirty years of experience, often as president and vice-president of various design houses: Yves Saint Laurent, Daniel Hechter, Stetson, Christian Dior and Burberry. Well-versed in the inner workings of production and marketing, he already contemplates the priorities of his new mandate. "The Canadian market is a hybrid between the American and European markets. The clientele here has rather traditional tastes, similar to those of the Americans, but approaches sunwear like Europeans do. The brand matters." Marchon Canada notably welcomes the inclusion of two recent additions to the company's portfolio, Chloe and Lacoste: "These two French brands enjoy a great reputation and, in the North American context, sell particularly well in Canada. But it is certain that efforts must be made brand by brand. Thus we envision a specific plan for Scandinavian Eyewear frames, the company Marchon acquired last year. It is a niche product, but we plan to assign more resources as early as January." Other projects will also mark Pierre Bessez' first term, including the move of the Canadian office in November to larger premises in the Côte-de-Liesse area of Montreal.
