Spectacle Eyeworks Distributes Colab Sunglasses
Colab is not just eyewear, it is art for the face Spectacle Eyeworks officially began distributing Colab sunglasses in North America at New York's Vision Expo East in March 2013. The Australian sunglass brand was born through a collaboration of artists. Whether designed by a street artist, illustrator or musician, pieces are all limited to 1,000 worldwide. Every season Colab works with a new group of creators. From humble beginnings, Colab has grown into an internationally recognized creative outlet for street artists, graphic designers, musicians and more. Colab has had the pleasure of working with some of the coolest and most innovative designers on the planet. These include Deanne Cheuk, Anthony Lister, Geoff McFetridge, Stefan Marx, Jonathan Zawada, Kill Pixie, Chris Hopkins, EBOY, Genevieve Gauckler, The Presets, Brett Chan, French, Will Sweeney, Mike Perry, TONITE, Timba Smits, Dmote, Josh Petherick, Rockin' Jellybean, and Perks & Mini (PAM), just to name a few. "I fell in love with this collection because I think glasses and sunglasses are works of art and it was fascinating for me to see what true artists who have not been influenced by optical industry design can create," says Spectacle Eyeworks Operations Director Mehran Baghaie. Of the different frames he is distributing, four are Anthony Lister designs. Anthony Lister is an Australian-born painter turned Brooklyn-based superhero. His work can be seen on both the street and gallery walls in London, NYC and Australia. Exploring the iconography of modern society, his work takes the form of the cartoons and superheroes ingrained in our youth by television and pop culture. Anthony's offerings to Colab are an expression of his very personal style and bold aesthetic.
