ill.i Optics, the innovative collection by will.i.am eyewear

A creative partnership is established with artist, entrepreneur, eyewear connoisseur and designer friend George Gorrow "I see a gap in the eyewear world, and this is my contribution towards what I feel is missing. I want this to be a straightforward brand – it is a case of dedication and passion." These are the words of will.i.am.   ill.i Optics proposes sunglasses and optical frames for both men and women.   Sunglass models for men include fine metal frames with details, such as pilot-like sun guards, or double top guard, square acetate shapes with straight front, metal models with well-defined profiles and inserts in the temples that conjure up the lens material.   Sunglasses proposed for women include special cat-eye shaped oversize acetate models with round lenses.   Optical models present thin round frames with double top guard placed on the lens rim, and square translucent acetate models embellished by 5 metal lines.   The "signature" ill.i distinguishes the entire collection.   Drawings are inspired by the futuristic choices of hip hop pioneers of the '80s, by oversize spectacles characterizing iconic figures of that decade, by the shapes of rare vintage items, and by memorable moments in the early years of the artist's career.   Avant-garde design elements present in the entire collection also refer to the futurist concept and to the typical innovative initiatives of will.i.am's world.   Details are discrete but impressive, such as the laser-etched logo 'willpower' and the 5 lines on the metal plates of the end pieces.   The color palette combines matt and glossy textures in the shades gold, black, white, silver, gun-metal gray and tortoiseshell.   Full lenses are either fully contrasting or smoky in the hues silver grey, bronze, brown and mirrored gold.   The ill.i Optics eyewear collection is available in selected optician stores throughout the world from September 2014.
